Bruno Angelo Pretto

Bruno Angelo Pretto passed away early in the morning of Saturday, November 23, 2024 at his home in Uxbridge, Ontario. He was in his 76th year and is predeceased by his parents, Vittorino and Luigia Pretto, and his brother Gianico.

Bruno lived the Canadian immigrant experience, coming to Canada in 1959 from Northern Italy. His father arrived in Canada in 1955, and his mother followed with the two boys 4 years later.

The family settled in Hamilton, Ontario after living in Ottawa for several years. Bruno graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. He met his wife Paula Vopni while attending university. They met in the first “ecology” course offered at the university. Paula and Bruno were partners in life for 57 years. They have two children, Aaron and Gabriel Pretto-Vopni.

Bruno enjoyed life to the maximum. He set up his own business and built his own country home. He loved good food, travelled extensively, and was a devoted family man.

Bruno was a generous, kind, simple guy with a wonderful laugh which he expressed freely and often. He was the FUN GUY who loved FUNGI. He had many friends and was loved by all.

We are all broken-hearted with his passing and will miss him forever.
