Deborah Louise Cerskus

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Deborah Louise Cerskus (née Housdon) on Thursday, January 16, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 1, 1961, Debbie was the beloved daughter of the late Gordon and Mary Housdon. She possessed a gift: The ability to truly see and understand every person she encountered. Debbie’s warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Her Toronto condo and the cottage she created near her grandchildren were not just homes—they were havens of love and laughter. Debbie had a unique way of turning gatherings into cherished memories, drawing people close with her generous spirit.

Debbie is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Timothy Cerskus. She was a proud and loving mother to Larissa Johnston (Ryan Johnston), Jackie Cerskus and Michael Cerskus. Her grandchildren, Colton Johnston, Cameron Johnston, and Briar Johnston, brought endless light to her life, and she adored them dearly.

She is also lovingly remembered by her brother David Housdon (Fanitsa Housdon), and her sister-in-law, Sylvia Kerschl.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Toronto General Hospital for their care and compassion during Debbie's journey. In her memory, donations can be made to PMCC or the TGH Cardiac Centre.
