John was born in Toronto, Ontario to Willena and Frank. John was a general contractor and carpenter by trade, and learned his skill from his father.
With his parents from Nova Scotia, John enjoyed many summers spent with family on the East Coast, as well as at the cottage in Muskoka.
John met the love of his life, Kelly, while working security at The Hard Rock Cafe in Toronto. They married in 1995 and together had four daughters, Ashley, Nicole, Sarah and Danielle, and one granddaughter, Abigael. He often referred to the six of them as “John’s Girls.”
John was the epitome of a girl-dad. His girls’ favourite memories of him include him teaching them the basics of landscaping and carpentry, his gentle touch when removing every sliver, his BBQing, and their frequent drives to Tim Horton’s for late-night coffee trips. He even learned to enjoy playing chauffeur, driving them around the city to their every event.
John was preceded in death by his father, Frank, and is survived by his wife, Kelly, his four daughters, Ashley, Nicole, Sarah and Danielle, his granddaughter, Abigael, his mother and step-father, Willi and Wayne, his step-mother Penny, and his eight siblings, Michele, Allan, Heather, Julian, Jay, Tim, Dana and Michele.
John’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Beach United Church, 140 Wineva Ave., Toronto, ON M4E 2T4 (Google Location: https://g.co/kgs/qkrZ9Rc)
