Joseph McIninch
Joseph Martin Alexander McIninch died peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on September 19, 2023 in Toronto, at the age of 73. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy Grimes and John McIninch, by his older brothers, John McIninch and David McIninch, and by his nephews, John Laitner and Timothy McIninch. Joe is survived by his sisters, Mary (Jürgen Laitner), Catherine (Carl Murphy) and Margaret (Peter Shea), by his former wife, Nancy Richardson, by his sisters-in-law, Michèle Leroux and Elizabeth Moody, and by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Born in Montreal on November 12, 1949, Joe was the youngest of six siblings and grew up in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood of Montreal. He left Montreal as an adult for Calgary, and then settled in Toronto, where he lived for several decades until his death. Joe is fondly remembered by his large family and many friends for his devotion to his extended family, his mischievous demeanour and his very clever mind. He was a prolific teller of tales, a consummate gift giver, a lover of cats and an avid follower of politics and other current events. Joe will be missed by all who knew him. A private Roman Catholic funeral mass and burial will be held in Montreal at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or to another charity or good cause of your choice.
