Toronto

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Kenneth Roy. Kenny passed away on June 23, 2024, at the age of 66 in the hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving sisters Nicole, Mona, Jackie, and Gail.

Born on November 23, 1957, in Toronto, Ontario, Kenny attended Jesse Ketchum Public School and Castle Frank High School, where he excelled in his love of sports, including hockey, baseball, and golf, which continued well into his adult life.

In his professional career, Kenny was a Scenic Artist who made significant contributions to film, television, and sports. Much of his career was spent working for CBC Television. He also loved traveling and working at setting up numerous NHL Winter Classics, NHL All-Star Games, and Major League Baseball All-Star Games.

Kenny was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan, and his collection of Canadiens memorabilia was ever-growing, reflecting his deep passion for the team.

Kenny and his wife Cindy (nee Surphlis) were married on November 9, 1996. They shared many happy years together until her passing in December 2019.

Kenny was predeceased by his beloved wife Cindy, his father Gerard Roy, his mother Gilberte Roy (nee Picard), his sister Marie Allaway (nee Roy), and his brother Paul Roy. He is survived by his stepson Robert (Marg), his grandson Logan, his sisters Nicole (late Peter), Mona (Richard), Jackie (late Raymond), and Gail (Bob), and his brother Claude (Brian). He will be sadly missed by all his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

His warmth, talent, and love for life will be remembered always. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held for both Kenny and Cindy later this summer.
