Lister, Thomas W. July 5, 1938- September 13, 2019

Peacefully, with family at his side, Tom passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital’s Veterans Palliative Ward on September 13th. Survived by his wife Linda, in their 50th year of marriage and his three children, Catherine Peterson (Alexander), Thomas Lister and Pam Tucker (Mike). Tom is also survived by his three grandchildren, Gregory Peterson, Christina Lister and Chase Lister, his brother Ron Lister of New Brunswick and many nieces and nephews and extended family across Canada, as well as Linda’s family: Luella Beckwith, Sandi Nischuk (John), and Glen Beckwith (Diane).

Tom was born in New Brunswick where he went to Tech School for art, later joining the military where he served for five years before moving to Ontario with his family. He met Linda, the love of his life, in the early 60’s. An avid golfer, Tom enjoyed not only playing but also teaching the game, where he passed on his love of golf to others. Tom and Linda always enjoyed their annual golf trip in Myrtle Beach with their friends. A consummate gentleman on and off the course, Tom applied the rules of the game in his day-to-day life.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm on October 20th, in the Fellowship Hall of the Willowdale Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 535 Finch Ave. W. Tom will be laid to rest at a private family interment at a later date.

We are grateful for all the love and support of everyone who touched our lives during this time. Our heartfelt thanks to all of Tom`s caregivers throughout this illness. A special thanks to the Palliative Team, at Sunnybrook. You are all very special people and the care you took with our Dad means a lot.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to cancer research, a patient assistance fund at the hospital of your choice or a charity near to your heart.
