Robert Garfield (Garry) Snare
January 21, 1930 – July 11, 2020
Garry passed on peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto on July 11, 2020 with his wife and family by his side.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughters Janeen (Dave Ryan) and Leslie, and his sons Andrew (Janet Carmichael), James (Heather) and Robert as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many friends showed their love and support during his weeks in hospital and we thank them.
Garry had a long and varied career in graphic arts, promotion and the entertainment industry, always focusing on the rights of everyone to be treated equally.
He was also a Shriner, working tirelessly to support their children’s hospitals, as well as an officer and member of several masonic organizations.
In later years Garry enjoyed his retirement, the company of his dogs, his friends and neighbours and time spent with his granddaughters Emma and Cailin. He was particularly pleased to reach his 90th birthday in January and to see everyone at a gathering in his honour.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors of St. Michael’s Hospital for their kindness and compassion. We are forever grateful.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in the future when restrictions are eased.
If you would like to pay tribute to Garry, please make a contribution in his name to the St. Michael’s Foundation.
