With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wayne Lovelace on November 9, 2024, at the age of 84, at Michael Garron Hospital, ICU, after a sudden brief illness. During Wayne's peaceful passing his daughter was at his side with his favourite bluegrass music playing.
Preceded in death by his wife Gladys and his parents Annie and Vernon. Survived by his brother Allan J. Lovelace, daughter, Tina Lovelace and son, Steve Lovelace, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wayne loved his career with Canadian National Railway. He started out in 1964 as a tractor trailer driver, and later as a crane operator lifting the container cars on/off trailers. Even though he was not fond of heights, his eyes would light up when he talked about being up in the crane. After retiring, he became an avid train watcher creating over 120 videos you can find on YouTube under “Wayne Rogers”. For the past few years, he loved drive to his favourite spot almost every day and have a coffee and chat with a close friend while they watched the trains together.
Driving motorcycles from his teens for most of his life brought him a lot of joy. He went on many trips to the east coast and especially loved PEI. So many memories created with family and friends while camping, fishing, and having a few beers around the campfire.
Wayne was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10. He was honoured to wear his full Colour Guard uniform when marching in Remembrance Day parades; grounds-keeping and helping with the annual Poppy Fund. Wayne received a Life Membership Award for outstanding service to the Legion.
Wayne will be especially missed by close family and friends who meant so much to him.
A private family interment of his ashes and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
