WOODS, Edward James
WOODS, Edward James
Beloved son of the late Ron and Rita (Ronan), Ed passed away in his 60th year. Ed was a graduate of St. Pius X High School, University of Ottawa, and Lakehead University. He enjoyed a brief career as a geologist, then a longer one in procurement in Ottawa and Mississauga. He piped at the Edinburgh Tattoo, worked at mining camps in Africa, biked through Europe, Australia and New Zealand, built his own cedar strip canoe, and camped in all seasons.
Ed enjoyed few things more than going for a hike, gardening, listening to good music, and creating a meal for and with those he loved.
Ed is sadly missed by his sisters and their families: Mary (Rob D’Ilario), Margi, Monica (Michael Poulin) and Kathleen (Marc Trembley). Proud uncle of Dan and Jamie D’Ilario, Nick Clarke, Thomas and Laura Poulin, and Annie, Will and Finn Trembley. Stepson of the late Roly deGrosbois, and nephew and cousin to many. Ed will be missed by many friends, and was especially thankful for the support of Karen, Erika and Rae.
We will remember Ed as an explorer, outdoorsman, thinker, joker, and storyteller.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Cremation has taken place. Interment at a later date in Colgan, Ontario. If desired, memorial donations to a food bank, shelter, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by his family.
